From Hawaiʻi to National Leadership: Victor S.O. Song Returns Home to the 2026 Hawaii Tax Institute

This year's conference carries special meaning for Integritas³ Partner Victor S.O. Song. Born and raised in Hawaiʻi and proud graduate of the University of Hawai’i at Manoa, Victor's journey reflects the enduring influence of the Islands and the values instilled in him from an early age. The Aloha Spirit is often described as treating others with kindness, respect, humility, compassion, and a genuine desire to serve. Those principles have guided Victor throughout a distinguished career in public service and continue to shape his leadership today. Although his professional responsibilities took him across the country and around the world, Hawaiʻi has always remained home.

Victor made history when he became the first Asian American to lead a federal law enforcement agency as Chief of the Internal Revenue Service Criminal Investigation (IRS-CI). During his tenure, he led a worldwide organization of more than 4,200 employees responsible for investigating some of the nation's most significant tax fraud, money laundering, public corruption, cybercrime, and international financial crime cases. Under his leadership, IRS Criminal Investigation strengthened global partnerships, expanded international enforcement initiatives, and advanced efforts to combat complex financial crimes. His appointment marked a historic milestone—not only for the Asian American community but also for federal law enforcement and the tax profession.

Following his retirement from a distinguished career with IRS Criminal Investigation, Victor joined Samsung Electronics as Executive Vice President and Chief Compliance Officer for the Americas. In that role, he was responsible for leading compliance, ethics, and corporate governance initiatives across one of the world's largest technology companies, bringing the same principles of integrity, accountability, and ethical leadership that defined his public service career to the private sector.

Today, Victor continues that legacy as a Partner with Integritas³, advising clients on complex tax controversy matters, forensic accounting, financial crime investigations, regulatory compliance, and litigation support. His decades of experience provide clients with valuable insight into the evolving enforcement landscape, while his commitment to education allows him to share those experiences with tax professionals, students, and organizations throughout the country. Whether mentoring future leaders or speaking before professional audiences, Victor exemplifies the belief that knowledge is most valuable when it is shared.

Returning to Hawaiʻi for the 63rd Annual Hawaii Tax Institute this November is both a professional honor and a personal homecoming.
